Caught up in Creating

Okay so its been way too long since I've done a post. Its been a busy week despite  though. I was able to get out six good drawings, a TON of photography, three new hair styles, a weekly craft list, and two cardigans and three re-vamped shirts. Photos coming soon. I need some good light and I've been sucked into hanging out inside...
So I want to post about how to even out the the crafts you want to do a week. I have a hard time because there are so many I want to do all the time. SO I decided to limit myself to a different DIY project for every different day of the week. Example.

  1.  Mondays... Photography.
  2. Tuesday ...Creative Home Improviser, Like re-doing the material on an old chair.
  3. Wednesday... Painting, Drawing... ect
  4. Thursday ...Trash to treasure/couture old clothing, purses . I have to say I love that saying. I did a few really good reads on some blogs last night such as TrashtoCouture. Its worth the reading so if you love taking something someone might see as trash and turning it into something you love. This is great reading  material.
  5. Friday...Fashion, Nail, Makeup, Hair, Making Jewelry....
  6. Saturday... Could be a choose what you feel like day, Like it was for me...
  7. Sunday... All kids Crafts, and Cooking.... My kids Love Crafts.

I then decided I want to come up with a kids monthly bucket list. To actually sit down talk with them about the things they would like to do and accomplish every month. I have chalk board paint and i plan on creating my own special chalk board for my boys from an old snowboard at the chance I can still get one for 3 dollars.

Easy Scarf Purse Styled Up.

So I have notice that if I draw for about ten mins before I go into re-Purposing clothes. I am usually more right on and make less mistakes as well as I get more creative.
My mother used to tell me drawing everyday exercises the left side of the brain, and since we constantly use the right, If i could draw a little everyday I would ultimately put more creativity into my reasoning and life. This has been a proven fact.
Since I had already gone looking through my to garage sale items, and found some really good clothes to spice up. It was an easy night.
  • I started off with an old leather purse and a scarf that came from the local second hand store. 10 cent scarf.
  • I then Measured 1 inch cuts in identical places on the purse. I used a pen and even marked where i was going to cut.
  • Since I have no intentions of washing this purse and just using it on my photography adventures, This is actually just a quick clip it project.
  • I then found a clothes pin to use to weave the scarf through the longer loops in the purse.
  • This is so easy it really only takes 5 mins. You can even embellish your purse more if you like. Today I will be looking at more studs and iron on embellishment. They run extremely cheap and if you have a good sense of design you could go wild putting these things on! I know I will!
  • Last but not least tie the scarf in a bow where ever both the ends come out.
  • Please bear with me, my other camera needed some charge fuel so I had to use my phone.

I plan to put more and better pictures up later especially after putting a little extra something on this purse. That is as long as it stays the one I was to keep. Purses and scarves seem to be a large quantity item at thrift stores, so opportunities are endless.

Okay so that Project was easy easy easy... Next I took an old work shirt from an old job. Ugliest shirt ever.

  • I cut the sleeves so I had about an inch the fringe to the shoulder seem.
  • Then I cut the back out and replaced it with cut out lace! BEAUTIFUL!
  • Then I used a method on pinterest I saw for making shirts tighter and giving them side bows. Except I didn't just tie them. I used a permanent loop where both ends of the bow could be pulled to make the shirt tighter. You just start to tie a bow but don't put the second tie in and sew a loop around the started bow. Then tug the ends both ways to see if it goes.
  • Then I started clipping that ugly collar off. I cut it into a droop neck loop starting from the measured cuts on the back where the lace went in.
  • Now that loop just leaving it as is could see my whole chest, but when gathered in the front it turned into a garment with a Grecian look to it. Very cute.
  • I added a bow to front and the shoulder. In the end I ultimately decided the one on the shoulder looked cute and took off the one on the front. I decided to look at embellishments for the gathered front too. Something sleek though. Like gold or silver roping....

This was also one of those really easy maybe thirty min projects. Also don't just look for lace in the material section at your local thrift. Look in curtains and tablecloths. That is where I score my lace material. That means I got about three yards for 50 cents took it home and washed it. Now i have enough for quiet a few more projects....
I will post pictures of the shirt after it is finished being embellished. So far you can see the fringe, the back and variations.
You can see how the bow in the gathered front is too bland. Now imagine what different ways it could be spiced up.

Vitamin C Scrub

So today I thought it would be cool to use old material and make mix tutus. I will not be material shopping till Tuesday ..so I did some more drawing instead, and lots of photos. I did find though that vitamin c is a very good source for good skin and we need it very much. So using my own mixture I used a vitamin c scrub on my face and I am taking before and after photos. Before would be from last night and after will be a week from the date. Too see improvements  I will even keep going to see what a four week result is. I know it makes my skin radiate and feel smooth. I am looking forward to this experiment. I also will do a protien on my hair for two weeks to see how much more smooth I can get it. Last but not least I plan to exercise every morning for those same days and see what a difference it will make.
I have added some shoe and dresses on my adds for fun fashion viewing as well. So don't forget to check out whats new at some of theses fashion stores.

Fringe Bikini from old shirt

Tonight I took the time to re-purpose another shirt. Because its my date night i'm going to make this sweet and simple.

  • Take an old form fitting T and cut it into a tube top.
  • Sew the raw edge in.
  • I lattice cute the back for detail, then used more material to make and sew on fringe.
  • Take and loop the front in the bust area to make a bandeau top.
  • Then with the last of the Material I had I made a bow to fit the front. I then hot glued glitter on it. It is really cute. Now I need to make a bottom.
  • If you need tutorial on making bows look into previous post or check out.www.whipperberry.com
Above you can see before and after photos. Later i'll pots of me wearing it. I'm a little white right now....

Fun with food.

Here I am tonight writing for last night as well as tonight. Last night  I decided my creativity would go into the world of cooking. I decided last night to come up with a list of 25 strange things to make to eat! Just to try and enjoy. I like to push the boundaries a little and I believe exploring is a great part of creativity. Exploration is endless with all the new things we can learn, see and try!
So Here is my list of 25 strange things I want to try to cook and perfect even if by change when needed.

  1. Acorn Squash and Ham Sandwiches, On French Bread.
  2. Cow Tongue with  Spinach and Artichoke stuffed Tomato's.
  3. Apple and Chicken Chunk Bow Tie Pasta in Alfredo Sauce.
  4. Banana and Peach Basted Shrimp.
  5. Sirloin topped with Avocado and Lime sauce.
  6. Grape and Mint leaf stuffed Chicken.
  7. Cheese and Ground Beef Stuffed Beef  Roast.
  8. Cooked Pears with Cheese Cream Sauce.
  9. Potato slices cooked and Basted with Orange Flavoring.
  10. Halibut with strawberry Sauce.
  11. Cooked Onions with Italian Sauce.
  12. Celery, Chicken , Honey , and Carrots Slow cooked.
  13. Frog Legs! Yes
  14. Strawberry Ribs.
  15. Gravy over Chicken stuffed Bread Balls.
  16. Caramelized Bell peppers with real Caramel.
  17. Pork Loin Stuffed with Banana Peanut Butter Paste.
  18. Mashed Potatoes with Mango sauce and Bacon Bits.
  19. Bean and  Bell Pepper Soup.
  20. Beef Pizza with no pizza sauce but brown gravy instead.
  21. Sausage and Cabbage Fry.
  22. Orange Hamburgers
  23. Applesauce Shrimp wrapped in  Lettuce
  24. Mango and Chicken Rice filled Tacos
  25. Squash Filled and Cooked with Sausage and Cream Cheese

Yes some of these things sound awful but there has to be a way to make some of these combos work great and taste awesome! We Tried 1 on the list last night and it was a hit after cooking the acorn squash for two hours making it easy to turn into a past.
I also used butter and brown sugar in the squash while it cooked and it went great with the ham and the density of the bread.

Affordable Photography Props

Last night between many drawings and a few of the items i got at my local second hand store I was able to get creative in many ways. I started off with the little brand new dress that I got for 25 cents. After tearing the tag of and a fast wash dry session in a pillow case,(the only way to wash clothes and keep glitter on them). I dressed her up and set out to get a good photo shoot. You know how it is to get good photos. Sometimes its easy and other times you may only get a two or three, depending on movement. I then decided what background and frame work I would like done on them. After choosing a background fabric to drape on a chair that i thought would go good with her skin tone and dress,I managed to get a couple of really good photos. Then i thought what is missing in this picture that could be fun. Props! Many people overlook the prop thought. Between finding a perfect background and a good prop it impressively changes the photo out come! Tomorrow me and my Mom are setting out to find the perfect photo props bargain hunting. As for on the internet, many people know about this site, and it happens to be one of my favorites as i have ordered for my daughter several times from HaloHeaven  My two drawings were a women with flowers in her hair, that I plan to finish with an antique pastel set and give to the friend that gave me the pastels in the first place.
The second was roses and a gun on the legs of some pants that i went all out on turning into a sweet piece of summer for me. Those pants I also found at the second hand store for 15 cents, have been clip laced up on the sides with bow placement to compliment. Bows seem to be the ongoing theme this week. I am loving it as well as my creative adventure unfolding. Picture will be uploaded after i get my laundry done :)Baby Hamster Creeper Body Suit (Google Affiliate Ad)

  1.  Step 1 Cut five inches down the inseam of both sides of your pants, for a quick fix, other wise use a thread ripper your results will be much better.
  2. Step 2. measure cuts where you will be lacing through the jeans. Measure to make sure you have the same amounts on both sides of the lacing as well as same amount, after all you want them to be even.
  3. Step three choose a fabric or ribbon to lace through the slits. I cannot believe how many things I was able to use that striped shirt from my second hand store, but yes i found another purpose for what i had left over.
  4. Step 4 measure to have at least 24 inches in length and cut it thin enough its easy to lace through, thick enough to be chunky still. Width should be about 2 1/2 inches.
  5. After lacing through try them on and tie the sides to see how well they fit. This works really well with pants that might not fit perfectly to give them a great fit.
  6. Now make your bows. I made mine inside out bows this time and used hot glue and simple stitches. instead of making the loop and having the loop be the outside of the bow, it was the inside where I scrunched the middle in. I used hot glue to make it ruffle more, and two 4 inch strips to tie around the middle.
  7. then decide where you want to place them. Make sure you only stitch them to one side of your material that laces up that way you can still tie and untie that lacing. If you sew it to both ends of the lacing you will not be able to adjust them anymore. Now try them on and go have fun wearing them out!!!!

Bow Tie Re-Purposed Shirt

Tonight I started off with the thought stuck in my head of making wrist warmers from two old shirts that were headed to the trashcan express. Hahahahaha I found myself sipping wine and imagining the things i could do with the shirt with the pattern on it. First i thought white bow across the front, and found myself searching through the whole house for an old white shirt that would not be missed. I decided when i didn't find one  that I was going to make it work with what i already have.  Bows seem to be in for me this week. I feel drawn to using them with the way they can be made from any material and easily styled up an put on anything. Turning up my Moses Mayfield radio I started cutting clipping and putting together a simple but sweet shirt that I could see myself wearing constantly. When finished I very pleased with my results.
  • Step 1 You Need two old shirts that are not too form fitting. I choose sleeveless, but I'm sure it would work with many types.
  • Step 2. Cut from the base of the shirt your going to use to make the bow and tie.
  • Step 3. Cut another larger square and sew raw edges in, but make sure the material will still stretch.
  • Step 4. Sew a smaller loop around your square to make a big bow. Use hot glue to make it ruffle and poof more.
  • Step 5. your going to need to put the shirt on before you put the tie around and bow on it, other wise it might not fit right. This way you can also see where you would like the placement. Then tie once and stitch the tie part of the bow in just the place where you will stick the bow on top of. If you do this is will still stretch when you take off and put it on. I used an old bottle cap and a glitter pack that was quiet the deal from the dollar store. I choose  the packet I thought would look best matching up with bow and shirt colors. I then hot glued the glitter to cap, and completely covered it.
  • Step 6 glue your sparkly bottle cap to the bow!
